First of all, is it real "candy"? Was there a base color shot and then a tinted clear shot over that to achieve the color you got?

What ever the case, painting a Candy with the doors off would be VERY difficult, few painters could pull it off. There are some who could paint it with no color difference what so ever, but if you even got close to that consider the painter to be very good.

It would NOT be recommended by me to anyone who didn't know for SURE he could do it. And that guy wouldn't need to ask if it could be done he would KNOW it could.

Basically, if you have to ask, it is not the way you should go.

candy paint

I though I could do it to , did'nt work , used same paint base, same candy, same clear , I may have put one coat to many, or the mixing person may have screwed up, most paints mixed by computer, so I'm blaming myself, doors and front fenders one shade darker than hood, candy paint is hard to match, oh well going to repaint next year anyway. just my 2cents worth. My theory is if its a solid color paint in pieces as its no big deal.
Metallics and pearls always paint with the car together or there will be a difference.

The best example I have ever seen of this was about 10 years ago a PPG rep picked a high metallic pearl color in base coat and bought seven 1 foot panels. Over a seven week period he used the same gun and every Saturday he shot one panel writing on a piece of tape the air pressure and temp vs humidity.
Every other week he increased air pressure with the same gun 5lbs. Put the tape on the base coat with notes and than cleared.
Now keep in mind this was out of the same base can and reduced the exact same way.
Of the seven panels five looked like he had used a different color on each panel only two matched perfectly.
Humidity, air pressure, and wetness of application and reduction changes any metallic or high Pearl color.
