Could not attach a PNG of 112K to a message. After uploading, the pop-up window went blank instead of showing the post-upload information and offering the "close window" button.

I put it at http://edge-op.org/images/workbench.png but I'm running into some network and display troubles, so the problem could very well be entirely on my end of the connection.

Problem's on this end. It's a thumbnailing issue with GD and the libpng PHP library. Downgrading libpng to version 1.0.x is listed as a possible solution, but I think disabling PNG thumbnails is a better option than downgrading the library. I've disabled thumbnailing of PNG images. Now, they can still be attached, but no thumbnails.

That's actually a relief, not that I'm glad you hit a bug. I have some troubles here that I think are a combination of some paranoid settings for an NFS server, my ISP's nameservers and my use of a closed nVidia driver with some barely beta software. I hate it when one bug hides another in layers.

Sounds like fun . I'm at the point where I've committed to a reasonable amount of bugs being ever-present. I'll spend a certain amount of time troubleshooting a bug, depending on how important it is, or how many people are experiencing it, or how long until I think we'll be upgrading the feature that is probably contributing to the bug. If I can't nail it within that time frame, I try and walk away. The time I save goes into researching and developing new ideas for the site. Either that, or drinking beer.
