I recently bought a 1992 chevy s10. I got it really cheap so I can't complain that it has problems but the guy I got it from said that the engine and trans have been changed before so they are not original. I know that the trans is at least a 87 and up but I have no idea what year it actually is. It seems to be newer than an 89 because I have a rebuild video of and 89 700r4 trans and this one has a couple extra wires coming out of if it but that doesn't necessarly mean it is newer but it seems to be. It does look like it has an electronic speedometer. I can't find anything to really for sure tell what year the trans is. Every time I find something that shows somewhere to look for numbers they're not there. I have some pictures of underneath the pan of all the wiring and what not and I can take more if needed. I need to figure out what year the trans is to see if it is right for the engine although I have no idea what year it is yet either. I've spent weeks trying to figure out but still coming up with nothing. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

right rear corner on the right side of the trans just above the pan. the first number will indicate the year.

Thank you! I tried looking for it while it was in the truck but couldn't see anything stamped there but after removing the transmission when I was going to rebuild it I was able to see it. Greatly appreciated. Thanks!
