cant understand magnetic distribitor??

ok i have a holley billet distribitor yea its old but looks brand new. well i have the prostip annihilator ign sys from holley. all hooked up. i am waiting for the right cap to get question there are no weights or springs in the distbritor. i know that you can move the hole dist.. to advance or retard the timing. but if i set it at 10 degrees ideal. then how does it advanced in higher rpms . i know the control moduel makes it advance but how? this is how i see it, power to the coil, to the rotor, and ignites spark pluges, but if the rotor has no springs or weights how does it advance???

Your distributor sounds like it has the advane locked out. So if you set the timing to "whatever" that's where it stays.

Doc here,

The Advance / Retard is controlled by the electronic module, by either delaying or stepping up Trigger pulse of the module response time (faster Advance ..slower Retard)..

Not failure with The Holly Billet type installation , but I assume it is the same principal.

Instead of mechanically moving the trigger pulse ( points or a magnetic pickup ) on an advance plate, or weights, It looks to see what the engine wants (within parameters) and electronically adds or subtracts that amount.
