Caprice Classic Clear-Coat Problem
I recently painted my car. Base coat went on nicely, until I applied the clear. Unfortunately there is orange peel on the one side, and on the hood. I am fairly new to painting cars but this is not the first car I have painted. What is the best way to resolve this issue? Do I need to re-sand and start from the top, or can I wet sand the clear and then respray the clear? As I say I am fairly new to the trade. I am using a siphon fed gun, should I be using a gravity fed gun? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It is possible you can just cut and buff the clear and get rid of the peel.
I use 3m sanding film, starting with 1000 grit and an interface pad on a da. then step up to 1200, then step up to 1500, then 3000 trizac without the interface pad, but using a bit of water to keep the pad wet with the trizac. Other guys wetsand it by hand using the sme basic steps in grit grade. Now buff and admire. |
