car paint job ,door jam process

hello
i ve seen many time some cars were ready for paint but the door jam , inside truck lid , inside hood , jam betwen fender and door ... all thoses area were paint first

i like the idee , you dont need to deal with open the door for the jam and to have the fender on car for paint , get everything adjust before paint

my wondering is about how to proced
its better to seal the entire car before doing the jam?
or just seal the jam ? and after when im going for the entire car , scuff the overspray and seal the car

im going with a bc/cc paint

thanks a lot

I've done it both ways. If your using a 2k sealer I would done the jams frist. If your uasing epoxy as your sealer I would seal do jams then mask them off and suff epoxy with a red scuff pad, tack and paint.

if the doors and trunk are left on, just spray primer with the door open , shut it, and do the car, then sand it all (even the jambs to paint) then spray the car with doors shut, after the cars dries, come back , open doors and trunk, back mask the edges, then mask off around openings, and spray the jambs, it gives a better finish for me, because even if I spray the jambs first and use aperature tape, I still get overspray and dry areas in the jambs. and I end up redoing them anyway,,,,,

Mask the exterior around the jamb as well to avoid overspray on the exterior panels.
