I've always painted top down, at 5'-7" reaching the roof is an issue without rubbing the sides. I drape the hose behind me and over my shoulder and sometimes loop it around my arm.
Lightweight benches for painters and sheet rockers are available now fairly cheap (from China, what isn't) that help get a better angle on the roof.
