I hate seeing a bunch of cool looking cars but the hoods are closed. The motor is just as important as the rest of the car. I don't care how stock or how dirty. Hoods Up. Let's see what you got!
that's what you think, really.. news for you buddy..You drive 20 to 50 miles or more to get there. Then they want to charge you ADMISSION. After all we usually always eat at the show and but 50/50 tickets.
Our cars bring in the spectators and we still pay. That's my rant. Frank
maybe if those with older cars got off their butts and filled the show they not need to have the newer cars there.. and news flash.. the new cars being their are not for you.. it's for the kids that are drewling over them.. just like you did passing the dealerships as the new models came out.. back when you were a twerp.. funny how many forgot their youth.. Sad really..What I hate about car shows is guys going out and buying a new Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, Charger, etc., etc., and thinking it is a car show car! And what I hate even more is when the dolts putting on the show actually have a class for newer cars! Why not just hold the "car show" at a dealership, and let them enter everything they have on their lot?
It's about what people build, not about what Detroit, or Japan built the last few years. Geez.
I have to re-post this,, I was wrong...SOMETIMES WHEN YOU PAY IT FORWARD.... YOU GET BLESSED FOR IT...
Which is exactly why I wouldn't want one.And if it was a Barret-Jackson "$100,000 plus" car, I'd be scared to drive it anyway!
We have a weekly "cruise In" in a little strip mall on the NE part of town..... We do have one bar in the area that has an annual show. $20 to enter your car....
I used to know a guy who had a '55 Ford like thatNow when I had my truck mid engine I sure liked leaving the hood open. LOL
Hi folks
Our club recently put on its final show. Why? Because we could never find enough volunteers to make working the shows bearable for those of us who always showed up. I’m just thankful that those workers were also the ones who attend the business meetings and passed the resolution to end putting on shows. In any case, here’s the view from the other side:

A bunch of stock bodied one-color cars! I can see that at any car dealer!
We LOVE having customs and competition cars at our shows (or real antiques, for that matter). The problem is that the owners just won’t bring them out. Today, the really enthusiastic people seem to be the ones who own the later model cars that they lusted after in their youth.

I guess I am no longer a representative of today's car buffs.
Again, a very insightful post. Most of today’s car enthusiasts would much rather look at a computer monitor or a smart phone than actually go out in the garage and work on a car.

Speaking as one of those “dolts”, we have the wonderful assignment of trying to keep EVERYONE happy. As one of our posters noted, a lot of the younger spectators just absolutely love the late-model stuff. And, if you try to put in a model-year cut-off, you’ll have to listen to half the club whine and cry.

[*]At well-run shows, club members are not allowed to compete for trophies.
[*]Deciding on model/year divisions for classes is an extremely difficult job. Our club re-did our classes several years ago and I was part of the committee.
