Post Carb Help

I just got a new gas tank and replaced the gas lines. It ran fine just moving it from one stall in the garage to the other, or outside, etc. but i take my first trip to the gas station and i get tehre, fill it up with no problems. then i get out on the road and start on my way home, and it starts bogging down. So i gave it some gas and it acted like i didn't do anything. I hit the gas a bit again and it jumped lik i tapped the gas but then started falling off again and then died. I pulled into the driveway of a friend's house and tried to start it. It just turned and turned without starting. Then, i raised the idle and it started, kept running for about 20 seconds, and died again, then it wouldn't start, it is acting like it isn't getting gas or is out of gas. the battery died and i had to leave it at my friend's house. I never had a problem with it dying when you gave it gas before unless is was standing still, while it was moving, it was golden. it has a carter Competition 4 barrel on it, it is a pontiac 400 1969 GTO. Could it be something with the new sending unit or gas lines, or is it just a carb adjustment. Also, when the gas lines were removed to replace them, the return line was completely collapsed and the other was barely open, could this have screwed it up? Any help is greatly appreciated.

What kind of suspension and braking do you have? Going quicker means havings to stop qucker! Putting in a larger drive train i.e. engine, transmission, also means its heaver then orginal and may need a little beefer suspension. On the engine size matters. I have been looking at some 472/500 big block Caddie engines they weight about as much at a small block and have more torque then you can shake a fat stick at! Just a suggestion you can learn more about them here. www.500cid.com Keep us updateed on whatcha do. And post some pics of her not to sure what a '57 Packerd Clipper looks like.

I dont even see it now.
Regarding your carb sounds like its stopped up somewere. I know this dosnt really apply but had the very same problem with my lawn mower last weekend the bowl on the carb had trash in it and the jet was stopped up. If its has pressure from the tank to the carb then check the jets. Just a thought.
sorry to muck up you perfectly good post!

does that new tank get air anywhere? sounds that it dies because theres too much vacuum in tank.leave filler cap of and if it works you found whats wrong.
second possibility,is there fuel in carb? pump ok? lines? filter? pick up tube not bottoming,if its straight cut?air leaks before pump?
If fuel, then clean carb. afb gets idle circuit fuel from main jets so if those are dirty it wont run even in idle
