These run great with a carb. I built a carbed 6.0 liter LS engine. I have this engine in a '91 s10 2wd. Its 550 hp at the crank. I get 20 mpg with a th350 and 3:73's buzzing at 3500 rpm's down the freeway. The thing is a blast to drive! It will blow the tires off at freeway speeds. And its only 9.4:1 compression so it runs all day on 87! A few pics...

It's a proform 750 mechanical secondary. It drives very well with this carb. I drive it everywhere. It starts well at all temps believe it or not. Even with no choke or choke tower. My sbc's never did that. I'm running an msd 6010 for ignition.

I have a 5.3 in my S10 backed by a T56. It has the edelbrock rpm intake on it with a cheapy holley 600 with vac secondaries. It was the previous owner's choice, not mine, but it works quite well.
Now if I could only get it to pass smog..... Speaking of... you don't still have that EFI setup sitting around, do ya?

just my opinion not the law of carbs......
standard trans= mechanical secondary auto trans=vac secondary vac secondary's are progressive so it takes a few rpm to get them open again after shifting. autos with less gears and the hammer down through shifts tends to keep em open longer |
