carb/intake manifold

I need a carb/intake combo that will work good for a stock 305 ci.

I would prefer an Edelbrock Carb.... should I get sum headers?

This is going in a 79 firebird.

a edelbrock performer, or weaind action plus intake will suit you fine, a 600 edelbrock would work fine also. but I would just find a Q-jet from the bone yard, have it rebuilt and run it, you`d still likely come out cheaper than buying a new carb. I say a Q-jet because the small primaries will aide in your out of the hole power with a small cubic inch engine and a heavy car. a set of tri - Y headers along with a dual exhaust system would help you out also, milage and power wise. either way, the edlebrock carb or Q-jet will work.

I had an old (and tired) Rochester Q-Jet on my 350 Chevy SB, with an Edelbrock Performer intake ... got rid of the Rochester and put an Edelbrock Performer 600 CFM 4bbl carb on and wow! Whatta difference! Easy to adjust, too.
