Carb making the car idle down and die
I bought a brand new Holley 600cfm Double Pumper awhile ago and put it on my 76 t/a which was running a mild Chevy 350. It worked great for about 1k miles. Then it started acting weird. It made the cars idle louder and rougher sounding, and when I'd put it in gear it would just idle down until it died unless I kept giving it gas. Even then it would still idle low and rough anytime I would come to a stop. And if it does die then I have to pump the gas 1 good time to get it to fire up again.
So I took it off and put a regular old Holley on it and it ran great. I eventually had a carb guy go through the dp and he said everything looked good.
So I put it on my 80 Corvette and it ran good for about 100 miles then started doing the same thing it did on the t/a. It's getting good fuel pressure at 6 psi. It has a brand new fuel filter and pump. I just run the cheap 87 octane gas in it as it's a fairly low compression motor.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
