Just in case i decide to go with a 4bbl carb what do you guys suggest? what should i pair it with... remember im not really looking for high performance just good gas mileage since the car is a daily driver.... and i live in california... gas prices are UP. i was leaning to a edelbrock carb rather than a holley....
car: 1979 Pontiac Firebird 305 ci automatic transmission thanks in advance |

You wont be sorry going with the Edelbrock. I ran one for sometime and there real cool. Use a 5-600 for decent performance. HG

I did a complete tune-up yesterday... put in new split fire plugs... changed the wires... did the oil change... i took off the carburetor(Rochester DualJet 210 2bbl) and tried to rebuild it and i am having a hard time putting it back together...i called a rebuild place around my house and they wanted 180.00 dollars to rebuild it.... i can get a new one for that... so i was thinking of just putting on a 4bbl but im looking for one that doesnt guzzle down the gas.... thanks in advance

For simplicitys' sake...An upgrade to an EDELBOCK intake and 600cfm carb would probably be your best move. I am a HOLLEY person myself, but they can be tricky to get right sometimes. Usually, an EDELBROCK carb.runs fine right out of the box.
This along with a distributor tuneup and recurve and a good secondary ignition system will get you what you want, if you can keep your foot out of it. |
