Carb problem

We have an aluminum big block modified engine in our truck when we race on flat ground she has no problem but at the races on the beach she had problems after a jump, we leaned out the jets and lowered the floats but still had problems she was back firing? Do you think this is carb related or timing? The first time it happend she back fired and was spitting out fire and the engine quit and wouldn't restart un til the next morning, we took out a spark plug and then she started up again??? if this makes any sense to anyone let me know....thanks Mrs. Greenhead

Sounds like fuel slosh flooding it out...except for the spitting fire part, but that may be due to cammed up??

Can you search around on the monster truck sites to see how they handle fuel slosh? Once in a rare while, you will see a monster go all flooded after a nasty jump...but I don't know if those are carbs or injected??

It is most likely fuel caused. Making jumps or for us regular off roaders, a good jolt or a tough hill can cause flooding and stalling. That is why most have now switched to some sort of injection.

Carb Problem

Thanks guys, I am going to check into the monster trucks I do think they are injected though..my hubby doesn't want to go the blower route because he sometimes switches the engines into modified dirt car. I am going to try to get the video up so you guys can see when she over loads it only after a jump in he race. We also have a strange suspension system all four wheels are independant swing arms...with hummer gear boxes that part(the suspension) works great but could that be causing part of the carb problem? My husband has been building this truck for 3 years now and he took apart the old truck so he would finally get this one done so I want to get him some help he is really bummed...but thanks for your input.
