Carb question

This may sounds stupid to some but oh well I was wondering what is the difference in the sizes of your primary metering rods in an elderbrock carb I guess really my question is if I gett bigger metering rods what will the change be I have 7142's in it right now it's a stock 750 nothing has been chaged in it yet I just rebuilt it and put all new gaskets and stuff in it thanks for any info

Metering rod carbs such as Quadrajets and Carter (edelbrocks) are just that. They use metering rods controlled by the vacuum signal on the primary side. The metering rod tapers down smaller as it goes so as it`s lifted out of the jets the mixture gets richer. Smaller metering rods are richer, larger ones are leaner.
