Oh! I thought this WAS the BG. Cool beans that the original Summit's running that well for you- you earned that, anyway, IMO. Well, you and FB88- but the point is that it wasn't a "gimme", you worked for it.

And to think the carb was only one issue.. The new motor blew 2 intake gaskets, fried a brand new Mallory coil, received defective parts from Jegs and in a way it was a good thing because when I removed the intake, I found one of the retaining rings on the new Com Cam lifter had popped out.. By the way, I just pulled the white hood, installed my tiny 1.5" air filter and put the big block hood back on for the weekend

WOW!!! THAT coulda been BIG- in a parts eating, expensive way! Serendipity or whatever it was saved the day on that one.

Oh, yeah. In fairness I should also mention that both Frisco and carsavvycook (and others- you know who you are)were calling for more initial timing nearly from the get-go while I was blissfully ignoring it all and was obsessing on the air/fuel mixture as being the main culprit. So good call to them as well.
