I have seen that too over the years, the filter not running full. Never has caused me any problems though. If you are having signs of a little vapor lock, and you have room under the hood for a spacer, by all means put one on. The PCV port can come off anywhere on the intake since of the carb so the spacer is a great choice. Some spacers already come w/ drilled and tapped vacuum ports for brakes, PCV, other?
