Post Carb Spacer plates

Currently im running an edelbrock 750 CFM carb ontop of a Victor Jr. intake on a SBC with no carb spacer at all. I just ordered a 2" open Aluminum Carb spacer, what does this actually do? and what is the difference inbetween the 2" and 1" spacers. Thanks, i am new to this web site and it seems awesome

Do not get a plastic spacer, thats the easy way to break a mounting tab on the base plate. Always check for a flat surface on any type before installing.
