carb surges in drive

i have a quadjet that surges when i put it in drive. i recently put a new 350 motor in with vodoo cam port and polished 202 160 882 heads headers and intake and now when i try to adjust the airfuel mixture no matter if i try screwin in or out it still surges. it runs smooth in park though. the carb was on my 305 before and it had a eldebrock performer cam, intake and headers and did not surge when on that motor. does anyone know maybe why i cant' get the get it to run smooth in drive too.

It almost sounds as if you have a lumpy cam and no stall converter. You may need to elaborate some more on your particular setup. cam specs come to mind
