i have a barry grant road demon 625 carb and at high rpm it will start to whistle like it is spooling up like a turbo. sounds like a vacuum leak does anyone know what it might be and if so what i can do to fix it. and i know its not a vaccum leak from anywhere else because i change the intake gasket and carb base gasket and i also checked all vacuum fittings and everything is fine.

have you tired cleaning the carb with some carb cleaner and hold it at 2500 rpm?

I do have an open air cleaner. but i've always had it and it just started doing it. and no i haven't tried to clean it with carb cleaner

After searching the forums and the internet, calling Holley and still no luck fixing a whistling sound coming from the bowls (specifically when a load was placed on), I finally fixed the issue. The carb spacer I was using was an open plenum aluminum. I switched to a 4 hole spacer and away went the whistle. Also added a noticeable low end boost as well.
