carburator question

I have a 79 firebird with a chevy 350 and a 4.11 gear in the back. The engine has camel back heads, headers, new ignition wires, edelbrock intake, mild to heavy cam (can't remember exact specs, was installed when i bought engine), and a recently installed edelbrock thunder series 650 cfm with electric choke. My problem is that when im in park, it idles fine but when i put it into drive it wants to stall. It has always had a rough idle due to cam even back when i had a holley installed. Now, however, I need to ride the gas when i brake to prevent it from stalling. Any ideas what the problem is? All help is appriciated. Thanks in advance.

My guess would be not enough initial timing advance. Do a search on this site for vacuum advance or timing advance and you'll find a ton of ideas/info.
