carburetor adapters

has anyone ever used an adapter to put a 4v on a 2v manifold? and if so does it work or just bottleneck it? Im not looking for performance gains, I need to rebuild the old 2v and I have a fairly new edelbrock 4v that I hate having just sitting around. thanks

In a situation like that where you just need to make use of a carb you have they are "ok", that's the only reason I would ever use one though. Depending on what it's on it may not cost much more than the adapter and the 2 Bbl. overhaul to buy a used factory 4 Bbl. manifold and gaskets.

its a 351 modified. it will cost $19 to rebuild the carb myself or $13 to put an adapter on it and run my 4. not alot either way. I just hate having a carb sitting around collecting dust.

How long does it take you to rebuild a carb?

By the time you install the adaptor and get the 4bbl connected you could rebuild the 2bbl.

IMO, you would pay much more in ga$ putting the 4bbl on as it has been my experience with doing what you propose is not very fuel efficient. If you really want the 4bbl, get the correct intake and you will be much happier in the long run.

Hell -- for $13 try it, if it works good great -- if not you're out the price of a case of beer. And we'll all learn something!
