cboy talk..

Yesterday, after a morning full of shovelling snow, Mrs. schnitz and myself took a trip up 'nort (I had to pay for my newest shop toy, a welder), to go see Dewey and his wife Dorothy. After the drive up, I'm totally convinced that there is absolutely nothing that Dewey can't do. We got to see the rat rod up close and the pictures in the journal really don't do it justice. He also took us on a tour of the house that they built right on the lake. The view from the house and the idea that he designed and built most of it himself was enough of a topic for the two of us to stay active in talk for the rest of the night. We stopped at the casino on the way back for a good old Cajun buffet. I tried some stuff there that I'd never even heard of before. (Thanks to both of you for pointing us to there for supper, next time you'll have to come with us.) We had a wonderful time, and we'll definetly make a return trip (or multiple trips) again. Maybe next time, we'll even see a bear or two on the deck (and we saw the pics of it happening prior)!

Later, Chet.

Nope, not even a bottle opener. The coffee was really good though. Just was a really awesome night. My day of moving "white gold" just didn't start quick enough in the day to allow me that kind of time to help work on the rod. Hopefully that will happen on the next time.

Yup, good times. Schnitz is really a dedicated hot rodder. He says if he can't get any updated pics in the HR. Com Project Journals then dern it, he's going to drive to every single garage and check out our progress in person. As of last night he's one down, 263 to go. So look out Willys, I'm sure I heard him say "Bakersfield or Bust" as he was walking out the door.

On the subject of rat progress, there has been some. I'm just trying to figure out a good way to get some pictures/commentary posted somewhere so people can catch up.

Dewey

Go east, young Schnitz.....

You'll see the new rear quarters on the '73 Z-28, just waiting for the trunk lid prior to final welding.

And the floor pans are all in for the 39 Chevy (except the trunk, thats this weekend)

Progress on the '39 to date:
New Mustang II front end
New Firewall
New inner cowl supports
New outer cowl supports
new floorboards (needs to be ground then epoxied)
new rockerpanels
new 8.8" ford rear end installed with new leaf springs
motor is mocked up. waiting to pull body off before installing motor and tranny
New brake master cylinder location (under floor) mocked up. Waiting to pull body for final install.

Project 39 will soon be at a point where I have to suspend operations, temporarily. I have to decide where to chop it. And I have to buy a column, air, and front seats. Much research ahead for this one! I "think" Ididit column, Vintage Air and KristKustoms seats.

Meanwhile the 71 Nova needs engine help. At 108,000, she's starting to smoke. And being a stock 307 2bbl, she's pretty anemic. That ain't right. It will get a 383 transplant, new disc brake conversion, and new rear leaf springs in the near future.

The 65 Chevelle needs the brake conversion (I have it already)and a new floor shifter (have it) to retrofit into OEM console.

Edit: Future of the Chevelle(long term): Covan dash insert, new paint ("Arrest Me Red",w/ ghost flames), new interior (color change from red to black carpet and white seats, panels, headliner, etc.) New Curries rear end, 427 World Smallblock, debating on a blower!!!

Gee, I wish I had something to do ......
