Post CD Player

i found where i want to put my CD Player in 1963 Nova. And i was wondering if u can buy like a plastic sleve to put around the cd player because i am going to fab up some brackets and i just don't want outside of the cd player to be exposed. I want to put something around it. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Yes, many companies sell adapter kits for head units, it a plastic casing that actually hold the headunit in place, just go to a audio store or a place that sells car audio and ask about them, they should be able to help, if not one for a 63 nova I'm sure you could find one for a different year/model car thar could work with a little persuasion.

You can buy sheet styrene plastic from any hobby store, there are even textured types so you might find a style that would look factory. Just be sure to buy some model spray paint to paint it with, regular laquer or enamel paint contain petroleum solvents that will melt styrene. I used sheet rubber once and it looked good also but I had to back it with aluminum sheet. If you want you could use aluminum sheet too, use a scotchbrite pad to give it a brushed finish. There are a million possibilities.

go to walmart they sell universal adapters for like a million types of cars each for 10 bucks now if ur goin to have to customize and make brackets then im figuring you dont really care which adapters you use but they have a lot of them and there is bound to be one there to fit your needs dont waste your time goin to a audio store they just try makin you buy wires and adapters and faceplates that light up you know the deal and they are way more expensive

Go to a boat shop they sell boxes for boats that will mount up. They have the cut outs for Din Radioes. That is what I put in My truck. Mounted back under the dash so it isn't seen well. Can send pics if ya want to see it. javascript: x()
