CD player/upper consoule done

I finally got the upper consoule done on the 46 Panel truck today. had to wait on the right antenna for it and then ended up using parts from two to make it work right. Its got six speakers and I can only turn it halfway up before I get run out of the truck. It's just a little loud.

Bluepen,

Nice looking overhead. I can't see for sure but it appears there is no "venting" for the player. If you seem to develop problems with CDs not playing correctly after about 30-45 minutes don't necessarily blame the player...it MIGHT be due to heat build up. CD players do create a lot of heat and it can effect the player itself. I had so much trouble with the one in my '32 I eventually had to install a small vent hole and a computer fan in the console which is tied into the ignition "run" line so that it is always on when the car is on. Pretty well solved my problem.

Thanks Cboy for the hint. The consoule is open to the wiper cover with a large hole the PO had made, secound reason for consoule. I hope there is enough venting through that with the windshield hinges and wiper motors and openings down the windshield posts to keep it cool.

Hopefully you won't have any problem at all. But looking at your third picture (which shows the unit from the side), if you do experience any problems, I think you could just use a hole saw to put an opening on each side of the "box" and the cross ventilation would keep you cool enough. A couple old automotive speaker "grills" (the smaller the better) to cover the vent holes and you'll be good to go.
