Which Cell Phone Company Is The Best?

My dad's contract on his AT&T Account has expired and he's wanting to get a new phone. He really wants to go with Cingular, but he is also looking at Verizon and Cleartalk. He is going to go ahead and get me a phone since I'll start driving next fall.Cingular has some pretty good packages.Like Rollover Minutes, etc. etc. What do you guys think?

I have listed a few Cell Phone Companies in this poll.Vote for the one that you like best and maybe even say a few words about them.It seems like everyone has or is going to get a cell phone sometime in the future.Maybe this will help out some other members too.

We had Cingular for 3 years. I thought their service sucked. They were always screwing up my bill and their signal was no good in my house. BUT I've heard people that were very pleased with Cingular, so it could just be my area.

Currently we have Verizon and I've been happy with their service and coverage. The phone I have is kinda cheap and I'm trying to get a new one for Christmas.

I've had a nextell phone and a T-Mobile phone. Both were pretty good. I currently have T-Mobile. I get great signal. My plan is good to, free nights and weekends, and 600 anytime minutes, for $40 a month.

The Nextell was pretty cool, I had a plan the included free incoming calls, meaning all incomeing calls to the cell phone were free. I would call somebody, say "call me back on my cell." and hang up. I also had free unlimited direct connect, and 500 anytime mins. The only problem I had with them was my bill was $75 a month!

Between the 2, I would go with T-mobile. They are growing fast and have really nice phones and plans.

I have had Cingular and Verizon.. I constantly had troubles with the Cingular and I finally dropped it. So far my Verizon service and features have been great.. It has a lot to do with where you live on how good of service you have.. Some areas my phone will not work at all, and others are excellent. I have also heard good things about Nextel.

Ditto on Cingular sucking. When I had them I had more dead zones than I care to count. Constantly dropping the signal. I researched Cingular, Verizon, Nextel, and Sprint, because we are going with two phones, and for the money Verizon won out. Nationwide long distance, 500 minutes and 1000 mobile to mobile or unlimited calling to the other family member for $69/mo. Around here most are on Verizon so the 1000 M to M would really benefit. Also Verizons long distance areas cover more than the other carriers. Tell your dad to research all of them. Go on the net and do searches and compare all the plans by writing down the basics.

I voted for other because I don't think that one company tops the others in all catagories. From my experience, Verizon has the best coverage, hands down, and T-Mobile has the best plans. I currently have a t-mobile phone and am quite happy. I get 2000 minutes a month, free nationwide roaming, 1500 incoming text messages and 1000 outgoing (I really don't care for the TM though), all for $9.95 a month. Of course, that plan isn't available to everyone, my girlfriend works there.

no cell phone is best. i had one and used it just for myself with verizon and liked it, i had 600 anytime and never came close. then i got married and my wife buried my ***** with $300 phone bills. i got rid of the cell phone, gotta land line and started getting raped by verizon again. then i gotta calling card at 2.9cents a minute at Costco and i can recharge it at that rate when ever i want. my last phone bill was $48.00 for my land line. i didnt know if i could live without one after 2 years with only a cell phone. but now i dont ever want to buy another cell phone.

Sorry, but the employee rate is only available for call center employees and direct dealers, like a t-mobile store. Indirect dealers, like billybobs world of phones, don't qualify because they don't actually work for that company, they are just liscened dealers.

I have had Cigular since 1994 (it was southwestern bell moble then) and currently have two phones, two contracts also and for the most part it works fine. I had Aerial (now T-moble) on one of the phones at one time and I could not even use it at the house.
