changing brands of parts when building a motor

Is it alright to use a different brand of cam and lifters when you are using Edelbrock carburetor and intake?

Yes.....

Yes,but,the CAM and LIFTERS should be from the same manufacturer...

i don't see why not.

Actually, it's mind-blowing to me that you can build a small block chevy with 100% non-chevy, non-gm parts. Including the fasteners.

I disagree with that statement! I have run Comp rollers on Erson cams and Crowers on either Erson or Comp cam. Think about all the people that run Rhoads hydraulic lifters on any big hydraulic cam.
