changing out a 318

Hi, my 74 Dodge Dart Custom currently has a 318. I was wondering what other size engines would fit? Probably a basic question but I'm new. Thanks!

Are you looking for a clean swap or having to customize? 360 would fit for sure. But I am also pretty sure you could get a 440 between the fenders with a few modifications. I personally know a guy with a 528 BB Mopar in a late 80s shadow. Where theirs a will theirs a way.

A 340 or 360 will be pretty much a bolt in. Installing a B/RB block (383/400/440) will take a little more work but is manageable. Going with a big block will require other changes as well.... such as trans and rear end but it is doable.

360 is a relative bolt in. The 360 is EXTERNALLY balanced, so a 360 harmonic balancer and a torque converter weighted for a 360 must be used- 904/999 or 727.
Pans don't interchange, but if you have entire cores it wouldn't matter anyways. One side motor mount will need a 3/8" to 1/2" shim on the 360 replacing a 318, other than that it's pretty straight forward...
