Has anybody changed out an old rear from a pick up to a new more modern one. I will in the future be doing this to a 1941 Dodge pick up and wondering where to start. Do I look for one that is about the right size or figure from the start on getting one cut?
measure the hub to hub dimension of the old one and then itis off to the pic-a-part and see if you can find one that will work..the Ford explorer 8.8 is a likely canidate for this as well as an 8.5 GM from an s-10 4x4..you may wish to check the ones under the Dodge Dakotas as well..One of those shoudl come close..
Of course you can go the route of getting a narrowed 9" Ford but then that can be big bucks..
Choice is yours as to how to proceed..
