The charcoal canister is meant for vapor containment only.
If you are getting puddling there is source of the gas getting there that needs to be found.
Have you checked the sides of the Qjet for leakage?
Does it leak intermittently or a little bit all the time?
Without the book here I don't know what the wires are for off the top of my head, but that should not cause fuel leakage.
The canisters occasionally need replacement, yours could be due.
Is there any way you could check for vacuum on each of the lines on the canister, a T-fitting mounted in line will help with this.
Other than that, you have me stumped also.
