the wires that the mice chewed thru are for the mixture control solenoid make sure that you hear it clicking with the key on
key on eng off it will click for about 20 sec.
the charcol canister system has main vaccum going to it not to the air cleaner
ck the canister purge valve make sure it is working properly
make sure all the vaccum line are hooked up
if the canister is bad it could cause raw gas to go into the engine
the canister absorbs fuel vapors and retains them until it is purged or cleared by air drawn through a filter located either at the bottom of the canister or in the air cleaner snorkel
the canister absorbs fuel vapores when the engine is off .when the engine is running vapors are drawn fromt the canister into the engine .
hope this helps.
