Chassis paint

I'm going to be working on the front section of my frame soon. I'll be having the front crossmember off the frame and sandblasted, and the rest of the front horns will be wirewheeled. I've been reading up and it seems the best way to go is epoxy primer and SS or BC/CC. However since I'm not doing the whole frame, just the front section, the cost is way too much for a gallon to use in a small spot as well as the fact that I have no way of spraying it. I was thinking of using a spray can of 2K epoxy primer followed by a can of Summit Racing's chassis paint or equivalent to it. Would this work alright? Basically I just want something better than just Rustoleum, but not shoot sky high on such a small area. I've used Chassis Saver with great results but don't want to go that route this time unless it would be better than epoxy in this case. Thanks.
