More Parts
What crank are you going to use? Are you going to use rollers? Heavy duty oil system? Timing gears or chain? Sump pan? Carb 650? Headers? What shape piston? 2400 Stall TC? 342 gears? Posi rear? Spacer helps.
Hope this helps. hr41pearl

I like Edelbrock carbs. I run the stock oil pump but a deep pan looks cool and requires a special oil pump pickup installed on the pump, available at Summit installed. The 2400 stall is sufficient. I don't use anything extra to seal the intake but the gasket and torque to specs. The cat crank for a 400sbc is inexpensive and I haven't had any problems with mine, will require a machine shop to setup the crank, rods for clearance and ballanceing the rotating assembly. If you haven't done it before have the engine/machine shop gap your rings and space the crank and rod brngs for proper clearance. Did you say your going to put juice/nos to the 383? You would have been better off using the stock 350, but thats just my opinion, your going to blow up your engine eventually so why waste all that money on a 383 just to have to do it all over again when it blows??

You will be able to run pump gas for sure with that combo. I have an 11:1 400 with iron heads, 234o of duration, and 36o total advance, it doesn't ping. I can only get 91 octane in my area too.
