I was looking at some stuff on Ebay and came across This . The HP gain seems a little high to me. Maybe I am wrong, I have never heard a figure on HP gained with a crank scraper but this looks like a little too much. Just wondering what you all thought.
I actually asked a couple of engine shops about that same piece for my motor. The response was that in a mild street motor, there will be no significant increase. They all said if I was turning 7,000 + rpm, you might see 4-5hp out of it. I was even offered actual dyno sheets on them. I believe 15hp is a little exagerated, my opinion.
Tis is a hi-rev part. Losses due to oil drag go up exponentially so at any normal driving rev you will enconter, there is no benefit. Begin exceeding 6000 or 7000rpm and scrapers become very important.
But, at $20, if your motor is already apart, give it a try! I do agree though, this part will only help a high R.P.M. motor. Hey Willy's-- I sent you a P.M.!!!
