Checking for vacuum leaks
JUst wondering. Is a thick towel over the carb. a good test for vacuum leaks? I have done this before and if the engine dies when you do it, means there are no leaks. But mine still runs like it has a leak some were.

Yes! It runs rough like there is a vacuum leak.

If you have a vacuum leak when you restrict airflow into the carb, the engine will speed up. A quick method to check for vacuum leaks at the intake maifold is to run water along the intake-head joint.
