Ford had to raise deck height on the 351 for a reason- that displacement is too much for that deck height. Go 327-ish or 302-ish. The problems are not worth the reward. On the heads- you can work them up and get decent numbers but nothing that'll make serious power. Since it only costs your time it may be a good option though. I guess the next question will be "roller or flat tappet?". If its a budget deal go solid flat tappet, ford allows for some decent flat tappet profiles anyway.

Actually "Cherry" has been around since before the 60's,verse from old an Chuck Berry song "Cherry" Red '53" we used that to describe a cool well done ride or something that was in like new condition back in the day in Minnesota and Illinois where I grew up, it wasn't just a "Southern Thang"
