Chev blazer tranny replacement

alright a buddies tranny finally gave out on him in his 1987 blazer or jimmy or whatever its a 4X4 auto 4.3L and hes got an 86 blazer parts truck 4X4 auto 3.8L what I need to know is if the tranny from the 3.8 will bolt up to the 4.3. I know the 4.3 shared the sbc bolt pattern (right?) but I dont know about the 3.8, the trucks are in two different locations and i'm too lazy to go look at them any help is appreciated

Scott

Actually the 86 might have the 2.8L I think that screws everything up.....

It must have a 2.8L in it which is a 60degV6. Those use the same bell housing pattern as the 4 cylinder engines. The 4.3L is a 90degV6 and shares the pattern with the small and big blocks like you said.

GM never put a 3.8 in an S-series truck/blazer. The only V6's were 2.8L or 4.3L

the back end of a 4x4 700r4 is the same from a V-8 tranny to the small V-6 tranny. It will bolt to the transfer case...
