Chev truck front end swap

Ok... so i already know that it IS possible to swap the front end out of a 60-66 chevy truck for a newer one with disc brakes. I just had a few questions. will one from a 70's c20 work as well? or only c10's? Also, the 60 had a 6 lug hub, what is the easiest way to keep it that way since the newer trucks had either 5 or 8 lugs.
My reason for doing this is to: most importantly, get disc brakes on the front, and to get rid of the torsion bars in place of coil springs. On the topic of coil springs, is it possible to do a coilover suspension on it? or even worth the money? I probably wont do this, but if theres a cheap and easy way to do it i might as well right?

Any advice from chevy truck experts would be great! Thanks guys

I think the crossmember is about the same and will bolt in but I don't know how well the 3/4 ton front end will work out. The 71-72 1/2 tons are 5 lug as you know and up to '87 crossmembers will bolt in your frame. I think there is one hole on the newer ones that need to be elongated some.

Early Classics and others, maybe CCP, now make 6 lug disc brake conversions for your truck but they aren't cheap. They may not be too much more than a total rebuild of a swapped front suspension including the purchase price of the used unit though. Also you could keep your rear axle. Either way you would need a dual master cylinder kit with proportioning valve for the disc and a conversion front brake line kit to hook it all up. All this is available from CCP and others.

Is there a reason that you want to stay 6 lug on a half ton? Moser now makes 5 lug axles for the '70 and older rear end housings. That makes finding a good 5 lug rear a non issue.

I'm sure you can find coilover conversions in the catalogs but dropped spindles and lowered coils are the easiest way to go.
