I want to rebuild a tilt steering column from a 1966/67 Chevelle. Does anyone know of a good site with instructions on taking the column apart? I found a few sites on the net but they all dealt with newer models and the factory manual isn't really any help.
Thanks for any help

Just what are you trying to rebuild on the column? Is the cam broke on the tilt? Directional indicators won't shut off? If I recall these columns do not have the ignition key in the column, correct?
If the ignition switch is not in the column there shouldn't be a steering wheel locking plate to deal with so the first tool you will need is a steering wheel puller (it can be done without it...but it's money well spent.)
Unhook the battery (or you'll be honking at the neighbors) pull the horn button and you'll see the jamnut holding the wheel on and a metal cup with 3 screws and a plastic shim or seperator that keeps the metal cup from touching (this is how the horn works)
Carefully remove the metal cup and plastic shims (digital pictures are good right about now) take the jamnut off and pull the steering wheel.
At this point there might be a dust shield, but then you should see the turn signal cancel switch and the internal cams for the tilt mechanism.
GM should have a "rebuild kit" for the column which would have a new cam gear and other peices to repair the tilt mechanism. You can buy the turn signal cancel switches from GM or aftermarket.
If you are looking for an exploded view of a column, you might want to try a Chiltons or Haynes manual at your local parts store?
Thanks for your help. I'm rebuilding the column because it's rusty, old and worn out. And I know how to take a column apart. The thing I don't know is I'm told that the bowl is pressed on and you need a special tool to take it off. That's why I need to see pictures of a '66/'67 "A" body column. I have Chilton's and an old Motors manual. Also the factory manual. None are of any help. I also need to know the best way of removing the tilt springs and replacing them.
Thanks
