chevrolet 327/350 starting trouble

Hi out there,

I have a jeep cj7 with a 68 Chevrolet 327/350 engine (HEI)

Recently i swapped the original Quadrajet carb & manifold for a Edelbrock performer manifold & carb.

After mounting the edelbrock parts & setting the ignition in the global position(as before), turning the ignition key,the engine runs good!!!

I decided to drive the Jeep home, and to set the timing later with the proper tools!!!

At the traffic lights the engine stopped running , i restarted the engine and drove home.

The next day ,driving to my work , the same trouble, only this time i was not able to restart the engine!!!

Please advise me ,How to locate the trouble (Trouble shooting check list )

Thanks for your time,

Greetings Ton.
