Post chevy 10 mbolt to fit my 37 ford coupe

I HAVE A 37 FORD COUPE THAT PRESENTLY HAS A 78 CAMARO 10 BOLT 8 INCH POSI REAREND. I AM LOOKING FOR A NARROWER REAR SO I CAN KEEP TIRES INSIDE THE WHEEL WELLS. I HAVE MEASURED A 67 NOVA REAR AND IT SHOULD DO THE JOB. ARE THESE REAR ENDS 8 INCH OR ONLY 7.5? ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? THANKS! DANNY

The 1978 camaro rears are actually 8.5 rears.
The 67 nova rear would be an 8.2. Either one should be strong enough for a little more than mild combination.

Ded, I have a couple of 36s with Chevy rears and they fit great. The frames are the same and the rear fenders are the same dimenions (stock axle flange to wheel opening) The 55- 64 Chevy car rear will fit perfectly with up to a 4 " back space 6 in wheel. Of these, get a 57 thru 64 with a 63, 64 preferred. There are bearing improvements starting in 57, and the 62-64 have self adjusting brakes. These are 8.8 10 bolt rears and have stood up under some pretty beefy motors in their time. Posi units are getting hard to come by, but US Gear has just started making new ones. You will need 57 and up housing to fit them in. Also, the 60-64 is a 10 plate unit where as the 57-59 is an 8 plate. Readily available gear ratios are from 3.08 thru 4.56 and you can get aftermarket 2.7x and up thru 5.12.
