chevy 1500 4x4 trans into a 4x2

i have a 94 4x2 chevy 1500 with a bad tranny and i cant find a 4x2 tranny anywhere for a decent price i can get a 4x4 one though, im wondering if i can swap them and just leave the front drive shaft off.??

I would keep on looking to find the right one. The family rwd cars from those years would have the same tranny too.

no

The 4x4 and 4x2 trans have different length out put shafts.

These trans can not be installed in place of the other with out the correct out put shaft for the application

Sounds like your best bet is to swap output shaft and tail housing from your old one to the new one.
