Post chevy 292 info

Looking for info on chevy 292 straight 6 from a 68 3/4 ton.

does the 292 have the same bell housing bolt pattern as a sbc (350).

the 292 currently has a 168t flywheel, I will need the smaller 153 tooth flywheel in order to use the bell housing i have.

is it possible to use any 153t flywheel from a 305 or a 350 or is the 292 balanced differently?

any info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

from the research i've done it appears that the 292 was internally balanced, so that means that any 153 tooth flywheel from a sb 305 or 350 should bolt up

sound right?

Have 1951 Fleetline Chevy Coupe and am considering upgrade to either 292 or SB. What vehicle is your 292 in? Was it transplanted, if so what difficulties did you experience?

yeah you can use a sbc bellhousing, flywheel and if you feel like boring it 125 over you can use 327 pistons, and while you are at it, get a set of sbc high performance heads, cut the end cylinder off of each, weld them together and you have a cross flo head for a 292....sorry, i guess thats a little too much info, i just got excited....

Hey!

Thanks for the link. My son just got a '62 Chevy with a 292. That's good info to have.
