I have a 75 305 in my chevelle,How much HP can i make from this engine? I have the edelbrock torker intake and cam in the stock engine when i bought it. Is it worth heads and new valve train?

Yes and no! 75 is a horrible year of Chevy struggling with emissions. the heads aren't good, so replacing them will boost power, especially if you look to Vortecs. The "no" is that it costs as much or more to build a 305 as it does a 350, and the 350 brings a lot more torque to the game. So why not start with a 350?

The 305 is already in the car and it would be a money saver. I'll go with the 350, I have more options

pull the 305 and sell it for 150-200 bucks as a complete running engine on ebay. Use the proceeds to start on your 350+ cube smallblock...

You can actually make pretty good power with a 305. the only problem is if you have to buy parts for it. Your normally money ahead when you go to a 350 plus the resale value of a 350 is going to be more than the 305. Most 305 heads are junk and the Torquer intake is probably about the worst match for a 305 that I can think of.
