maybe i can help out here a lil with my 305 experience... the same argument can and is had with the 350 when you can just as easily build a 383 for about the same cost.. many moons ago i built a 305 cause 350s were like mustangs to me.. everyone got one... so with fact. crank and fact. rods(x rods) i proceeded to sink a few dollars into a 305.. the final product was a .060 over 11:1 mill that made awesome power from 4k-7500... holly 750 dp, team g intake with 3"'s of spacing under the carb.. had something like 8.125" from carb base to plenum floor... dart iron eagles (215's 2.05, 1.6 angled plug) cranes "Saturday night special" w/ .518/.536 and 244/252 @ .050 (i think they sell it under the power max name now). this stupid lil mill was my daily driver and never had a hic-up.( until the #5 exhaust valve came apart and wedged itself between the bore and piston but that was like 20,000 miles later. it beat most people i ran into on the street and had a best of 13.5 @104 on the strip with a beat trans that took .3 sec. to shift each time and a converter that was good for 2500... it got to the point i had to lie to people and tell em it was a 350 so they would stop calling me a lier... i say build it!!!!
