I have a Chevy 350 in good running order. block casting 3970010 heads casting 1401416, Edelbtock performer intake, Edelbrock performer carb 1405, headers as well. I was looking for more information on the block casting 3970010? I would like to build a 350(not a 383!!) with a balanced rotating assembly roller rocker roller camshaft and newer heads. I have spent some time looking at summit. Has any one every order a balance rotating assembly? Are summits's heads, Hydraulic Roller Liftes,Camshafts, and intakes any good? I would like to make 350hp to 400hp. I see summit has many top end kits with heads cam lifters intake. Should I buy a top end kit. I was hoping for some suggestions. I hear Vortec heads or RHS are way to go.

The 010 block is a widely used generic block.....trucks, cars, muscle cars etc. If you would google that number and the head casting number you will find all the info you need. As far as a balanced rot. assembly it all depends on what you want to use it for.

If your engine is worn out and needs a complete build then yes buy a GOOD rotating assembly or use your crank and rods if you can......then whichever you use take it to a GOOD balancing shop and have them do the balancing. I would never buy a supposed "balanced" rot. assembly and take their word for it, also they don't have your flywheel/ flexplate or harmonic damper to balance to the new parts. I paid $175 to get my 507" Cadillac balanced to within 1/2 gram....well worth the peace of mind.
