Chevy 350 Engine & Trans in a 46 Chevy Pickup

Plan on putting a Chevy 350 engine
in a 46 Chevy Pickup. What transmission
is my best bet? Want a 4 or 5 speed.

Choices

Basically there are two..one is to try and find one from a swap meet or ebay and hope it is in good condition or that the price is right so it makes sense to rebuild it..

Or you can just bite the bullet and order a new one from Richmond Gear or maybe one of the Tremec trans..

One way makes sense if you have the tools and expertise to work with the used on and the other makes sense if you want new and good from the get-go..

Just my two cents..

Look in the Carolina Trader..........there's a fellow always selling 4 speeds. His name is Tommy Pound.

Good guy........worked at Herndon Chevrolet for years. Very knowledgeable and fair on his prices.

He can come up with everything you need..........flywheel, bell housing, 4 speed and the shifter........

Deuce,
This is unbelievable!
I was just reading your post on tranny preference when I received your recommendation of Tommy Pound.
I did call him earlier this week and will follow up with Tommy because I would like to be able to meet someone face to face since and has that type of experience.
I'm new to this. My wife told me to get a hobby since I don't fish, hunt or play golf and I've always wanted an old pickup.
It is also great that you are from Cola S.C.
Are there any car clubs that meet and if a contact and or where?
Thanks again

Warner
