Chevy 350 running rough at idle

I have a 350 in my 1982 chevy pickup and it runs rough at idle but runs fine when I am driving. I just put a new 2400 stall torque converter on the truck and recently put a edelbrock 1406 carb on it. One day it seems to be idled up to high and then it seems to be idling to low when I think I have it right. Can this problem be from timing, Carb adjustments or what I appreciate the help.

Get a vacuum gauge and set the idle mixture screws to the highest vacuum level in park. Try to get them even as possible. Lightly seat them all the way in then back out until highest vacuum is acheieved.

Thanks Double Vision I will try that but the truck ran pretty good today. It was qutie a bit warmer today than it has been the last couple of days. Dont know if that had anything to do with it b/c it still idled rough after about a 20 min ride in teh Interstate but I will try the Vacuum gauge Thank a lot.

It sure sounds like you've got a vacuum leak somewhere, maybe carb baseplate gasket?
