One thing you might check, is the "Prime/Bypass" Circuit for the Fuel pump during crank mode..(refer to a Haynes manual to see if this has one)..
Also a loose or corroded fuel pump relay might cause the problem..
TO check the Prime circuit, you should be able to jump the oil pressure sender into thinking it has oil pressure, then try starting, If do it's in the prime circuit.
You may not be pulling enough fuel pressure while cold cranking to turn the fuel pump on..and actually start.
