chevy 400 turbo trans output shaft question
Hey guys I have a 454 H.O. engine that was in a 79 chevy pickup. The truck was 4x4 and I want to use the engine and 400T in my 57 chevy 210 streetrod but the output shaft(after removing the transfer case and adaptor) sticks out the back of the tranny case 1.25 inches and has 32 splines. Is there an extention housing that short or do I have to go through the trans and install a longer output shaft and housing? Anybody ever mess with this kind of thing? If so I'd appreciate any help. thanks

your gonna have to tear it down and swap output shaft and get a tail housing, but your short shaft is worth money so you could sell it

Can you tell me if any car 400 turbo output and tailhousing will work? I know there's different lengths, and also wondering about the inside part of the shaft are they all the same? thanks, I ain't scared

you could get a long tail bop cheeper than a short chevy from a junk yard thats what i would do also you wont need such a long drive shaft to make it work ie a chevelle or monte mid size gm would get you in the ball park.also give it a good rebiuld while your in there if i can be any help you can message me on here, ive ben at this for 40 yrs
